STAY-AT-HOME ORDER is in effect, and Garner Town Hall is closed to the public until further notice. However, Development Services (Planning, Inspections, Engineering) is accepting drop-off submittals and correspondence in the Town Hall main entrance vestibule during business hours. Residents currently have only online and phone options for utility and tax bill payments. Field inspections will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. And the schedule for the unprepared trash and yard waste pickup has been modified. The April 6 Town Council meeting and April 20 Planning Commission meeting are cancelled.

Disposal of Other Trash and Hazardous Wastes

Town residents may take many items to Wake County's North Wake Sanitary Landfill at 9004 Deponie Road, off Durant Road between U.S. 1 and Falls of the Neuse Road, or the county's transfer facility (formerly South Wake Sanitary Landfill) on N.C. 55 at Feltonsville Landfill, between Holly Springs and Apex. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Items acceptable for disposal or recycling at these sites include, but are not limited to, large appliances (such as water heaters, refrigerators, washers, dryers), recyclable corrugated cardboard, scrap tires, building materials, rocks, carpet, and furniture. Some of these items may require special preparation or payment of a disposal fee.

Wake County also has Convenience Centers (dumpster sites) that many household items and small amounts of home construction debris can be taken to. Items such as small furniture, mattresses, clothes, and regular household garbage can be taken there. Several are conveniently located in our area: 10505 Old Stage Road, 3600 Yates Mill Pond Road, and 8401 Battle Bridge Road. Convenience Centers are open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call Wake County Solid Waste Management at 919-856-7400.

Wake County also operates two special household hazardous waste sites. Dropoff information can be found in this Wake County guide. Household hazardous wastes are products such as motor oil, batteries, paints, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, etc.
