However, the Development Services departments (Engineering, Inspections and Planning) are accepting drop-off submittals and correspondence in the vestibule of Town Hall during business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday). The Inspections Department is responsible for the enforcement of the North Carolina state building codes and local laws related to 1) the construction of buildings and other structures; 2) the installation of such facilities as plumbing systems, electrical systems, heating systems, refrigeration systems and air-conditioning systems; 3) fire alarm and sprinkler systems; 4) the maintenance of buildings and other structures in a safe, sanitary and healthy condition; 5) street addressing; and 6) other related matters specified by the Town Council. It is also responsible for enforcing Town code related to nuisance and public safety. Town code must be in compliance with state statutes.
