About the Garner-Fire Rescue Merger

After several years of discussion and work with North Carolina Fire Chief Consulting, the Town of Garner and Garner Fire-Rescue, Inc., have moved forward with consolidating operations. In May 2024, the Town Council unanimously passed a resolution proposing the unification of Garner Fire-Rescue with the Town. The Council then unanimously approved a final merger agreement in March 2025. The consolidation occurred on July 1, 2025. Below are some frequently asked questions about the merger.
