The South Garner Greenway extension has two main goals: 1) to give residents better bicycle and pedestrian options to get to White Deer and Lake Benson Parks, and 2) to prepare Garner to connect to a future regional greenway linking Lake Benson and Lake Wheeler.

The feasibility study for this project includes a multi-use path shown in yellow/orange going from the Vandora Springs roundabout south to the Lakemoor area. This element of the project is the same on all the route options. From the Lakemoor area, the study considered three routes (Option A, Option B, and Option C) shown on the map below.

The final feasibility study is available below the map, along with a fact sheet on greenways in general. If you have questions about the South Garner Greenway extension, please contact Assistant Town Manager-Operations Matt Roylance at

PROJECT UPDATE: On May 28, 2019, the Town Council discussed the feasibility study and decided to put the project on hold due to challenges with right-of-way acquisition and the project budget.
