The Town of Garner has a council-manager form of government with a mayor and five member Town Council. Elections for the office of council member are held at two-year intervals in November of odd-numbered years. Elections are non-partisan, and the mayor and council members are elected for four-year terms. The Council sets Town policies, enacts ordinances and appoints the town manager. The town manager administers the daily operations and programs of the municipal government through the department heads, other staff members and employees.

Police to Hold Medications Take-Back Event MARCH 23
The Garner Police Department is hosting a medications take-back event 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 23 at the Police Department, located at 912 7th Ave. The service is free, anonymous and no questions will be asked.
By providing safe and secure ways for people to get rid of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications, Operation Medicine Drop helps prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse while protecting our waters. Since 2010, over 1000 sites have collected over 106 million dosage units of medication during take-back events statewide.
