Town Wins Award for Popular Annual Financial Report
The Town of Garner has won the Government Finance Officers Association's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the fourth consecutive year--every year that the Town has been eligible for the honor. The award recognizes the Town's Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.
Judges took into consideration the quality of the information presented in the report, reader appeal, understandability and distribution of the publication, among other factors. The GFOA said judges "commented favorably on the overall professional format of the report. The information is streamlined and well organized."
"The reviewers noted that the use of color, photographs, and graphics are effective in increasing the readers' interest in the report," the GFOA said.
The PAFR is intended to summarize the Town's annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, which has earned awards from the GFOA for 28 consecutive years. Both of these documents can be found at garnernc.gov/departments/finance.
The 2017 PAFR previously won a second-place Excellence in Communications Award from N.C. City and County Communicators in the annual reports category.
