The Town of Garner and Garner Police Department are pleased to announce that Garner Police Chief Brandon Zuidema was elected president of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police (NCACP) at the organization's annual conference last week.

The NCACP, founded in 1976, includes more than 350 chiefs and command-level officers from across the state. The organization is focused around its motto of “Law Enforcement Excellence for Tomorrow …Today.”

In his role as president, Chief Zuidema will be responsible for leading the NCACP Board of Directors, working with the NCACP membership on information sharing and training opportunities and working collaboratively with North Carolina legislators, policymakers and other partners to further public safety initiatives and professional policing across the state.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected to this position by my peers in North Carolina," Chief Zuidema said. "I look forward to the coming year and to the opportunity to support the continued development of the law enforcement profession and community.”

Chief Zuidema has been a member of the NCACP since his appointment as Garner's chief in 2009. He has served in a number of roles with the association, including regional director, executive board member and North Carolina representative for the International Association of Chiefs of Police--State Association of Chiefs of Police Division.
