Review Final Environmental Impact Statement for NC 540
NCDOT and the Federal Highway Administration have published the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the southeast extension of NC 540. The document includes several topics, including information about the project's preferred alternative (the "orange route") and the effects it is expected to have on the human, natural and physical environments.
NCDOT must receive comments on the Final EIS no later than Feb. 1, 2018, to be included as part of the public record for the Final EIS comment period. NCDOT says it will hold open-house-style meetings and one formal public hearing concerning the project's design plans. Announcements concerning the dates, times and locations of those events will be made within the next several weeks, NCDOT says. A printed announcement will be mailed to all individuals on the study mailing list. People who recently received a newsletter from NCDOT about the NC 540 project also should receive a copy of that announcement.
