Triezenberg Named Town's Planning Director

Post Date:04/10/2017 8:34 AM

Town Manager Rodney Dickerson has appointed Jeff Triezenberg as the Town of Garner’s planning director effective April 10.

Triezenberg had been serving as the Planning Department’s interim director since Dec. 31, following the retirement of longtime director Brad Bass.

Triezenberg joined the Town of Garner in December 2014 as assistant planning director. Prior to joining the Garner staff, he was a senior planner for 10 years in Knightdale. Before joining Knightdale, Triezenberg held a series of progressively responsible planning positions with the City of Burlington, N.C., for over seven years.

“Jeff has a wealth of knowledge in various areas of planning and has been a tremendous asset to the Town in his interim role,” Dickerson said. “I look forward to him being an integral part of our management team.”

Both Dickerson and Assistant Town Manager-Development Services John Hodges noted Triezenberg’s exceptional work in overseeing two projects of critical importance to the Planning Department and the Town as a whole.

“Jeff has expertly managed two major initiatives for the Town simultaneously—the development of a new comprehensive land-use plan and the expansion of our extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ,” Hodges said. “Jeff’s work on the ETJ expansion process, which Garner had not undertaken previously since the 1980s, has been commended by staff, elected officials and citizens.”

Triezenberg holds a bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in Michigan and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a member of the American Planning Association (APA) and American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Triezenberg is a 2013 graduate of the UNC School of Government’s Municipal and County Administration course.
