Garner Receives $850,000 in Federal Funds for Jones Sausage Road Improvements

Post Date:July 28, 2026 1:26 p.m.

Congresswoman Deborah Ross and Garner Mayor Buddy Gupton announced $850,000 in federal funding for safety and capacity improvements to Jones Sausage Road at an event at Garner Town Hall on July 27.

This Town of Garner capital improvement project will enhance safety and traffic flow along Jones Sausage Road through road widening, intersection upgrades at East Garner Road, additional turn lanes, transit accessibility betterments, new sidewalks and other pedestrian safety upgrades. It will also create a greenway connection to the new Yeargan Park and a planned mixed-use development in North Garner.

Congresswoman Ross secured the funding earlier this year. The Town's Engineering Department and Town Manager's Office prepared the application for the funding.
