The following is a news release issued by the N.C. Department of Transportation:

Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close the ramp from U.S. 70 East to N.C. 50 (Benson Road) for bridge work.

Crews will close the ramp Monday, March 23 at 9 a.m., weather permitting, for three weeks.

Traffic will detour by continuing on U.S. 70 East to New Rand Road back to N.C. 50, following detour signs.

Motorists should expect delays, follow posted detours and use caution in the work zone.
