Town Offices, Facilities and Parks Closed Tomorrow; No Solid-Waste Service

Post Date:January 25, 2026 1:49 p.m.

Good afternoon. Here is your Sunday afternoon update:

Town offices, facilities and parks will be closed on Monday. Meals on Wheels service is canceled for Monday as well.

All-Star Waste will not provide collection services on Monday. Garner residents on Monday routes should place carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on Tuesday for pickup. Residents on other routes should follow their regular weekly pickup schedule.

Wake County has opened emergency shelters at the following locations:

  • Southeast Raleigh High School, 2600 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh
  • Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road, Wake Forest

Road conditions remain extremely dangerous. Please continue to stay off the roads if at all possible (even during lulls in precipitation) and stay indoors to avoid the risk of serious injury. If you must go outdoors, please try to remain on grassy areas instead of hard surfaces.

To be prepared for the impacts of this storm (including possible power outages), we encourage residents to make emergency plans and take the following safety precautions:

  • Keep your devices fully charged ahead of possible power outages.
  • Assemble an emergency kit that includes enough food, water, medical supplies and other needed items for each family member for three days.
  • Sign up for Wake County emergency alerts at ReadyWake.com and follow the U.S. National Weather Service Raleigh for the latest weather updates.
  • Residents who are concerned about power outages impacting oxygen tanks or durable medical equipment should contact their equipment supplier.
  • Never use a generator or camping stove indoors. Do not run a motor vehicle in a closed garage to recharge devices. Keep generators outside and away from homes and garages.
  • For Duke Energy customers, report an outage via the Duke Energy app, website or by texting OUT to 57801.
