Construction has started on improvements to Pearl and Parker Streets. This 2021 Street and Sidewalk Improvement Bonds project will add 20 on-street public parking spaces in Downtown Garner near the Garner History Museum at the Depot.

The scope of the work includes road widening and installation of curb and gutter, storm pipe and sidewalk along the west side of Pearl Street from the Garner Baseball Inc. complex frontage to Main Street and improvements along Parker Street from the eastern boundary of new townhomes to North Montague Street. Along with the townhomes development on Pearl Street, this project’s improvements help complete the road and pedestrian network in the area. 

Project construction should be complete by the end of this December. While the project is in construction, Pearl Street and Parker Street will have work zones in place, creating one-way streets for the duration of the work. Drivers are advised to follow signage and drive safely.
