The Town Council and Mayor Buddy Gupton surprised an employee who recently earned a prestigious credential in her field.

Town Clerk Stella Gibson received the recognition during presentations at the Dec. 17 Town Council meeting. Mayor Gupton recognized her for recently earning her Master Municipal Clerk designation through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Ms. Gibson currently is one of only 80 municipal clerks in the state to have earned this designation. She put in hundreds of hours over several years to attain this prestigious honor.

The Master Municipal Clerk program is an advanced continuing education program that prepares participants to perform complex municipal duties. It has an extensive and difficult educational component, and a professional and social contribution component.

Ms. Gibson has been our Town Clerk for nearly nine years and with the Town for a decade. Congratulations, Ms. Gibson!
