STAY-AT-HOME ORDER is in effect, and Garner Town Hall is closed to the public until further notice. However, Development Services (Planning, Inspections, Engineering) is accepting drop-off submittals and correspondence in the Town Hall main entrance vestibule during business hours. Residents currently have only online and phone options for utility and tax bill payments. Field inspections will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. And the schedule for the unprepared trash and yard waste pickup has been modified. Stay well, stay home.

Town Hall and Other Town Buildings Closed to Public—SEE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AND BILL PAYMENT OPTIONS

Post Date:03/19/2020 4:50 PM

March 26 update: The utility bill dropbox outside Town Hall is no longer an option for bill payments. Please see the Bill Payments section below for details on paying online or by phone.

In an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Garner has decided to close Town Hall and other Town buildings to the public effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 20, until further notice.

The Town takes this step out of an abundance of caution. As always, the Town’s top priority is to protect the safety and well-being of residents and staff. And although Town buildings are closed to the public, staff remain working to conduct the business of your local government and to provide essential services to the community.

Critical services provided directly by the Town or through its service partners will continue uninterrupted. These include police, fire-rescue and EMS service; curbside trash and recycling collections; water and wastewater services; and development services work including inspections. As always, if you have an emergency, please dial 911.

The Meals on Wheels grab-and-go service at the Garner Senior Center will operate on Friday, March 20. However, the Meals on Wheels program is evaluating future service. Please check the organization’s website for details and updates.

The Town closures do include the Lake Benson boathouse and White Deer Park Nature Center. For more information on Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, please call 919-773-4442.

As of now, Town Council meetings will continue as scheduled. The Town will provide updates as needed.

Development Services (the Planning, Engineering and Inspections Departments) will begin accepting submittals and certain correspondence via drop-off only until Town Hall is reopened to the public. Visit here for instructions on how to do drop-off submittals.

Although police services will continue uninterrupted, the police station building will be closed to the public. Visitors will be able to use the phone at the front of the building to arrange to meet an officer. As always, please call 911 in the event of an emergency.
