In conjunction with Gov. Pat McCrory’s proclamation of the biannual state cleanup period, the Town of Garner is pleased to sponsor the Spring 2014 Garner Litter Sweep and N.C. Big Sweep on Saturday, May 3. We are excited about the opportunity to strengthen our community bonds, reinforce our hometown pride and all be involved in keeping the Garner streets beautiful. The Town is encouraging all members of the community, especially civic groups, churches and neighborhoods, to participate. This is an excellent way to give back to our community.
Litter Sweep is a cleanup of roadways in our community. If you are interested in forming a group in your neighborhood, we will work with you to select streets in your neighborhood for cleanup. Big Sweep is a cleanup of waterways around town. Volunteers will be provided bags and vests to wear during the cleanup. Town of Garner Public Works will collect the bags after the event.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at White Deer Park Nature Center (2400 Aversboro Road). There will be a free breakfast. To pre-register (which is encouraged), or for more information, please contact Kelsie Engelhard for the Big Sweep at (919) 661-6892 or Jaclyn Rametta for the Litter Sweep at (919) 773-4421.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 3!
