GPD to Resume Explorer Program; Meeting Set for Oct. 23

The Garner Police Department is starting its Explorer Program back up and will hold an interest meeting next Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Garner Town Hall (900 Seventh Ave.).
The Explorer Program is a worksite-based program for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 who would like to pursue a career in law enforcement or learn more about law enforcement. The program has meetings twice a month. The meetings involve, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)
- vehicle stops
- K-9 demonstrations
- hostage negotiation
- touring 911 Center
- FBI
- SBI
- courtroom tour
- building searches
