8/9/2012

The Garner Police Athletic and Activities League, or PAAL, will host a broomball fundraiser at the Garner Polar Ice House on Saturday, August 25 at 3 p.m. The event features a broomball game between Garner police and Garner firefighters.

The fundraiser will also include a silent auction with Carolina Hurricanes memorabilia, gift certificates from area businesses and restaurants, and other items. The Hurricanes’ mascot, Stormy, as well as the Storm Squad will be on hand.

Tickets are available at the Garner police station at 900 Seventh Ave., the Garner Volunteer Fire-Rescue station at the corner of the Main Street and Benson Road or at Polar Ice House at New Rand and Main the day of the game. Ticket costs are $10 per adult, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 or $25 for a family ticket.

The cost of the tickets includes a free ice skating session at the rink from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Garner PAAL currently is involved with two after-school youth programs and is actively working to expand that to all secondary schools in the coming year.

Garner PAAL is a 501(c)(3) organization; all proceeds from the event will go directly to programming for area youth.
