The parking lot between the police station and library off of 7th Avenue will be closed for a few days starting Monday to allow for repaving work. The library book drop will be unavailable during that time. Access to police station and library parking will be through the Town Hall lot entrances on 7th Avenue (look for the Town Hall monument sign) and on Aversboro Road.

Council Recognizes Public Works Employee of the Year

Post Date:07/07/2017 4:18 PM

The Town Council at its July 6 meeting formally recognized Brad Williams, who was named the Public Works Department’s Employee of the Year during Public Works Week in late May.

Williams joined the Town in July 2014. He is currently serving as a building maintenance technician. In a nomination submitted by his colleagues, Williams was lauded for working well with other employees. The nomination said he is knowledgeable, willing to help when needed and always ready to share his smile and massive laugh with anyone.

“Brad has been a great addition to the Public Works team, and I am proud that he was elected by our department as the Employee of the Year,” Public Works Director Forrest Jones said. “He is a talented carpenter with an infectious laugh who is eager to assist wherever he can.”

Along with a plaque recognizing him as Employee of the Year, Williams received an invitation to lunch with Town Manager Rodney Dickerson, a special parking spot and sign at the Public Works complex and the option (which he declined) of taking the day off on July 3 when Garner holds its Independence Day Celebration.
