Grants
to Schools
The Garner Educational Foundation, with support from the Town of Garner, Wake County, and various community groups, businesses, and individuals, offers a variety of recognitions and grants for Garner-area schools and staff members. Each year, the GEF Board will determine provision of school grants. Past grants have provided funds for technology purchases at each school from digital cameras, computers, and scanners to flash drives and for professional development and specific student programs. A recent goal of GEF and the schools is to use such funding for establishing video production studios at each elementary school and ensuring the middle and high schools have appropriate video and production equipment.
Scholarships
for Graduating Seniors
The Garner Educational Foundation provides scholarships for graduating seniors from Garner Magnet High School. Funds for the 2010 scholarships were provided by the Town of Garner, Progress Energy Carolinas, National Pawn, and by donations collected for the Tom Moss Scholarship and for the R. W. Moore (GEF) Scholarship. In 2010, five $1000 scholarships and one $1500 scholarship were awarded to graduating seniors of Garner Magnet High School.
In 2011, Six GEF scholarships were awarded to 7 GMHS students: 1-Garner Town Council,

For the 2010-2011 school year, GEF was pleased that Garner Sylvan Center once again offered these scholarships. Recognition
Activities for Retirees
The Garner Educational Foundation began in Spring 2002 a recognition program honoring retiring educators and staff from the GEF schools. Retirees have attended either a reception or a dinner at a local restaurant. Details on the date and location for the 2012 retiree dinner will be sent to each retiree identified by the school principals in late Spring 2012.
Award Winners
Since 2006, GEF in collaboration with the Town of Garner and the Garner Chamber of Commerce has recognized with a reception and a gift/certificate those educators who are winners of local, state, or national awards such as the Teacher of the Year, Teacher Assistant of the Year, and National Board Certification. The 2011 reception was held at the Historic Garner Auditorium on March 14. Watch for details for the 2012 reception after January 2012. Invitations will be sent to all honorees.
