Join the Garner Educational Foundation in celebrating the skills and achievements of the students and staff in the eleven Garner-area public schools by participating in, attending or supporting:
Ongoing:
--SCOR volunteers working 30 minutes each week with a reading buddy.
--Celebrating Media Centers in Garner Schools: GEF celebrates the Garner schools with
appreciation nights at the Cary (NC) Barnes & Noble store. Dates to be announced.
Spring 2011:
--March 12: The eighth annual Garner Targets the
Arts-Storytelling Festival
and Teacher
Workshop will be Saturday, March 12th, at North Garner Middle School (720 Powell Drive).
The educator workshop in the morning (8:15am) and the storytelling festival (1pm) with
student
performances in the afternoon for the entire family are being presented by the eleven
local public
schools with support from the Garner Educational Foundation and the Wake
County Public
Library-SE Regional Library. Details for signing up for the educator workshop
will be available in early 2011, at each school and at the SE Regional Library in Garner.
--May 5: The fifth annual STARS on Stage celebrating the accomplishments of the students
in the Garner area will be at Garner Magnet High School.
--Scholarships: Various scholarships for graduating seniors of GMHS will be awarded.
Information will be available via the GMHS guidance office in Spring 2011.
--Annual Baccalaureate Service for graduating GMHS seniors will be at Aversboro
Baptist Church on a Sunday in May 2010. Details for tickets will be available via the GMHS
guidance office.
--Recognition Activities: Reception for award-winning educators, luncheon for SCOR
volunteers, and retirement dinner for 2011 school retirees will be held in May and June, 2011.

Summer 2011:
--Fifth annual Camp Invention at East Garner Magnet Middle School for rising first through sixth
graders with date to be determined.
