Garner patrol units responded to a reported attempted residential
breaking and entering at 102 Barslund Ct. on 1/12/14 at 3:58 p.m. GPD K-9 Unit Officer David Taylor and Bandit tracked
the suspects to 108 Barslund Ct., and our patrol units were able to arrest
three suspects for the attempted break-in.
Investigators from our agency responded, and through interviews and
search warrants were able to link one of those suspects to other break-ins
occurring in Sandlin Branch, and were able to develop a fourth suspect in the
previous cases. As a result,
Garner police were able to clear three previous residential break-ins in the Sandlin
Branch community which have occurred since October 2013.
The suspects charged in the attempted break-in at 102
Barslund Ct. were Damien Brown (age 20 of Garner) , Charles Bass (age 18 of
Raleigh), and Dewayne Webb (age 17 of Garner).
Each of these individuals was charged with attempted breaking and
entering, possession of burglary tools, and resisting an officer.
As a result of the investigation, Dewayne Webb was charged with possession of a handgun by a
minor, three (3) counts of breaking and entering, and three (3) counts of
larceny. Demetrius Brown (age 18 of
Garner) was charged with three (3) counts of breaking and entering, and three
(3) counts of larceny. These additional
charges were for the break-ins occurring on Kentucky Dr. between October 2013
and December 2013.
Chief Zuidema said, “This outstanding police work is an
example of the cooperation, information sharing, and dedication our patrol
officers, investigators, and special operations division engage in every day
for the people of Garner.”
