Garner Police are investigating a traffic accident at the intersection of Hwy 401 and Mechanical Blvd. All lanes going into Raleigh are currently blocked.

Crime has been determined to be a felony larceny instead of a common law robbery.

Police Investigate Multiple Car Break-ins  -  Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Garner police officers are investigating approximately 10 motor vehicle break-ins occurring in the areas of Forest Hills Apts. and Lorraine Village overnight. In these break-ins, the vehicles were unlocked and the suspect(s) took items left in the car such as loose change, wallets, and other smaller items of value.

UPDATE: Garner police investigators have identified and interviewed the individual in the photos from yesterdays incident. The investigation is on-going, and no charges have been filed.

Garner Police Seek Common Law Robbery Suspect  -  Tuesday, September 15, 2015
Garner police investigators are seeking the identity of an unknown white male who committed a common law robbery at approximately 3:45 p.m. this afternoon at Forest Hills Shopping Center on 5th Ave. in Garner. The female victim was robbed of cash after a struggle over her purse on the sidewalk at the shopping center. The victim was not injured in the robbery.

Mr. Powell was safely located in Cumberland County.

Fatality Crash on White Oak Rd.  -  Thursday, September 10, 2015
Garner police were dispatched to a crash at White Oak Rd. and Timber Dr. East at approximately 6:31 p.m. on September 9, 2015. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2011 Cadillac SUV driven by Brenda Culbreth, age 69 of Garner, and a 2006 BMW sedan driven by Javier Orlando Alvarez Lopez, age 22 of Wake County, collided in the intersection. Mrs. Culbreth was transported to WakeMed Raleigh where she died. Mr. Lopez, as well as his passengers, Jose Francisco Torres, age 23 of Wake County, and Agustin Alejo Pascual, age 21 of Wake County, were also transported to WakeMed Raleigh. All three occupants of the BMW sustained serious injuries.

Silver Alert  -  Tuesday, September 08, 2015
At the request of Garner police investigators, the N. C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for Omax Gardner Powell II, a white male, age 28. Mr. Powell was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue shorts, and orange and black sneakers. Mr. Powell is missing from 1139 Benson Rd. and was last seen on September 7, 2015 when he left his home on foot. Mr. Powell is known to frequent area churches and the Timber Crossings Shopping Center. He has also previously taken the GoRaleigh public transit bus from Walmart in Garner to unknown locations in Raleigh. Mr. Powell suffers from a cognitive impairment.

Update on US 70 Hwy Fatality  -  Friday, September 04, 2015
On September 3, 2015 Garner police charged Eric Adams with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle as a result of the collision which occurred on August 17, 2015 on US 70 near Greenfield Pkwy. No other charges in this incident are anticipated.
