US 70 Hwy. Fatality  -  Monday, August 17, 2015
On August 17, 2015 at approximately 8:51 am, Garner police responded to a motor vehicle crash on US 70 Hwy. between I-40 and Greenfield Parkway.

A B&E crime spree ended in Garner Thursday, April 30, 2015 with the arrest of Tonekia Bowden after a team effort between police and the community.

Update on Missing Person  -  Wednesday, April 22, 2015
Garner police recovered the body of James Hipp this morning at approximately 8:15 a.m. from Lake Benson after he was located by a boat operated by the Wake County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Hipp's death is an apparent suicide, and his body has been sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Update on Missing Person  -  Monday, April 20, 2015
UPDATE: James Hipp is still considered an endangered missing person, and we ask the public to call us with any information they may have on his whereabouts. First responders have completed the ground search at Lake Benson Park for Mr. Hipp and have suspended the water search due to the severe weather moving through the area. We will resume the water search in the morning. The park will remain closed this evening, and a decision on reopening the park will be made tomorrow morning.

Missing Person  -  Monday, April 20, 2015
Garner police are looking for James Joseph Hipp, W/M, age 26, who is a missing person. Mr. Hipp was last believed to be in the area of Lake Benson Park in the evening hours of Sunday, April 19. Information leads us to believe Mr. Hipp wanted to harm himself. Anyone with information on his location is asked to contact the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.

Garner Police Make Arrest in Breaking and Entering  -  Monday, April 06, 2015
Garner officers arrested Nicholas Alexander Sanders, age 17, of 3821 Vesta Dr., Raleigh, after responding to a residential break-in at 4405 Jessup Dr. at approximately 10:45 am today. When police arrived to the reported breaking and entering, Mr. Sanders fled on foot and was captured after a short foot pursuit. Mr. Sanders was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and resist, delay, and obstruct an officer. The stolen property, which consisted of two pairs of shoes and a tablet, was recovered.

UPDATE: 308 Hay River St.  -  Tuesday, February 24, 2015
On Saturday, February 20, 2015 Garner police officers responded to a request to check on the welfare of Michael Wayne Benedetti, age 46, who lived at 308 Hay River St. Once officers entered the house, they discovered Mr. Benedetti had died of an apparent suicide. Police also found the body of Eileen Yinfenlai Benedetti, age 57, whose cause of death is undetermined pending the medical examiner’s report. The Benedettis were married and both lived at 308 Hay River St. We have classified this incident as a murder-suicide; however, a final determination will be made once a report is issued on the cause of death for Mrs. Benedetti.

Garner police are investigating the death of two persons at 308 Hay River St. as a murder-suicide. At this time the manners and causes of the two deaths, a male and a female, are still under investigation pending an initial report from the medical examiner.
