Welcome to the Town of Garner Planning Department.

The Planning Department is involved in the preparation for Garner's future growth with the Comprehensive Growth Plan, Unified Development Ordinance-UDO (planning code), Transportation plans, Enhancement Projects, and the protection of open space.

What We Do: We review site and subdivision plans, and rezoning proposals. We also review the following types of planning applications:
  • Master Sign Plans, Sign Permits (Permanent and Temporary)
  • Plats (Exemptions, Minor and Final)
  • Zoning Compliance Permits: General Use, Home Occupation Permits, Accessory Building (maximum of 12 feet in any dimension) and Fence Permits
