Welcome from the Director:

Welcome to the Garner Parks and Recreation Department, and to the exciting opportunities that we have available for you! We hope you will spend time going through our newly designed brochure and find something of interest to you and your family. As we approach the end of the year, we can celebrate opportunities our community gives us to live healthy lifestyles.

This year has been very historic for our Town and department in a number of ways. We successfully opened White Deer Park, our Senior Center received certification as a Center of Excellence, and our department was able to be of assistance during the ConAgra explosion. In addition, our department was recently featured in the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Association Magazine Winter 2009 edition. The article profiled Garner’s recreational parks and facilities, mostly focusing on our newest park’s efforts in LEEDing the way to a green environment. White Deer Park opened in November and has attracted environmentalists and nature lovers alike. We encourage you to visit the park and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Garner knows this park will provide many years of enjoyment, great fun and educational benefits to its citizens and guests.

Garner is certainly...A Great Place to Be, and the Garner Parks and Recreation Department strives to make it... A Great Place to Play!
